City´s desciption.

Barranquilla is an especial, industrial and port district, the city was founded between 1627 and 1637.
The 7 April is her holiday, this day is the founding at ville.



With 1´897,989 million people in the metropolitan area, Barranquilla is the biggest city in the north region of Colombia and with more inhabitants. 
The currency in Barranquilla (and in Colombia) are the Colombiam pesos (COP)

Barranquilla is located in the state of Atlantico, to the north of country, to seashore to the Caribbean sea.
The landscape is mainly plain, and the city is located in the west side of Magdalena River,the biggest river in the country, this is the main river causeway of Colombia.
The weather is tropical an dry, the average temperature is 28 celcius degrees, in Colombia existe 2 weather periods, the first is a dry time, since December to April, and rain time, since April to December


Currently a modern system of massive transport called Transmetro is being built. The taxi´s minimum fare is $5,000 pesos (COP)  (about US$2).
Barranquilla’s street network is in good condition for easy travel between locations. Quite a number of urban bus routes will transport you quickly anywhere in the city. The price of the bus ride is only US$ 0.30. 

Gastronomy.

These are some typical foods, You should taste when you come to Barranquilla:

1.Lisa´s rice
It´s a popular plate, It´s selled for peddlers in the street and it´s served in Bijao's leaf with coast cheese, suero (milky derivate), yuca,etc.
This food is prepared with onion, pepper and other vegetables and spices.









2.Guandú´s soup with salty meat.




This soup is prepared with Guandú ( a leguminus plant), It's considered the typical food of carnival,because, in the same date It's harvest.










3.Butifarra.


The Colombian Butifarra is cilindric and little, It's accompained with lemon.
On Soledad, since 13 of July and for 3 days is celebrated The Butifarra's festival.










4.Quibbe or Kibbeh.



It's prepared with ground wheat an ground beef, this food is of Arabic origin, hence, this name.
